Burn Abdominal Fat and Get Abs of Steel With These Easy Exercises

Anyone can target their abdominal fat; it's simply a question of knowing the right exercises. These moves are easy to follow and achieve proven effective results; get ready to bid farewell to your spare tyre.
Press ups
Not something usually associated with burning abdominal fat, press ups are amongst the most effective stomach toning exercises out there. Maintaining the straight body line required for completion of the exercise necessitates that both your lower and upper abs are engaged throughout the range of movement. Think of your abs as the core that supports the entire move and focus on tensing these muscles as you perform the exercise. Often, simply being conscious of the muscles that you are targeting can help greatly to isolate them and work them harder.
Sit Ups With Reverse Curls
This exercise is particularly good for fat burning as it targets your full range of abdominal muscles in a single motion. Perform a normal sit up, starting the move with your legs in the air instead of on the floor. As you elevate your upper body, use your lower abs to pull your legs towards you. This should feel substantially harder than a conventional sit up, but rest assured that this will be reflected in the results!
Cycling
Assume the same position as for the previous exercise but when you lift your upper body, hold the position. Begin a backwards cycling motion with your legs and as you do this twist your torso, timing the motion so that you twist in the direction of the leg moving towards the body. The effectiveness of cycling lies in its triple muscle engagement; it attacks fat around the upper and lower abs as well as the obliques (lateral muscles) promoting an all round toned abdomen.
Penguin
Don't be fooled by the cuddly name; this exercise encourages real definition of the waist! From a normal sit up position with arms at your sides lift the upper body off the floor and hold. Begin making a side to side motion with the body, aiming to reach each outstretched hand past the leg of the same side as you lean towards it. Make a conscious effort to tense or squeeze alternate obliques as they are being worked. This is a fantastic fast acting exercise as it engages the major abdominal muscles, which are constantly working to hold the body in position, whilst providing an intense workout for the lateral muscles.
An All Angles Approach
You'll notice that the exercises above work the entire range of core muscles, and they have been carefully designed to do so. This workout avoids the common mistake of working only a portion of the abdominal muscles, a tactic that simply cannot promote an all over fat burning effect. Choosing these exercises allows you to reduce greatly the volume of exercise you do, yet achieve the results to which you have always aspired.
