Breakfast, The Dieting Secret

We have been told over and over never to skip breakfast and that it is the most significant meal of the day. Unfortunately it is usually the one meal that a majority of people have a tendency to skip. Wanting to sleep in a little longer, being late for work and being too lazy cooking up something when you have just woken up are all common explanations why people often skip breakfast. Unfortunately if you are attempting to lose weight, this practice won't help you whatsoever!
You've just woken up from an eight hour slumber and if you hold off eating till lunch break you're certain to overeat. Eating breakfast may help you slim down as it keeps you satiated each morning and will aid in reducing the quantity you consume at lunch and dinner. Eating breakfast can also help to ramp up your metabolism throughout your day. After getting up from sleep, you're body generally runs at a lower rate of metabolism and eating breakfast may help increase it. Following a long slumber, eating breakfast will likely give your mind and body a much needed energy jolt and provide you with more energy to execute strenuous physical exercise.
A Government funded study of 2000 girls aged 9 to 19 discovered that the girls who ate cereal regularly were more likely to keep weight off compared to girls who ate cereal only occasionally (they were also more likely to carry excess fat). Another study of 4200 adults discovered that regular breakfast eaters ate less calories during the day and exercised more.
Breakfast on the go
Reduced fat yogurt, packed with gut friendly bacteria is a great option for breakfast and can be eaten on the run. Other breakfast options which are great on the move are fruit smoothies (throw in bananas, berries, yogurt and milk in your blender and you have an excellent nutritious drink) and wholegrain bagel or whole grain bread sandwiches. If you are in a super hurry, just grab an apple, a banana or any other piece of fruit to eat in route to work.
Eating breakfast isn't just going to help you lose weight. Studies have shown that children who eat breakfast concentrate more and perform better in the classroom than those who don't. On the other hand, people who don't eat breakfast are usually more prone to alcohol abuse, smoking and other generally unhealthy habits.
